Editorial & Academic Standards
This page explains how Allen Girls Adventures creates curriculum and worksheets for grades 3–6, how we check them, and how you can report a mistake. We describe only what we actually do today — not a review process we wish we had.

1. Who writes the content
Curriculum direction, world framing, and worksheet development are led by founder Michelle Phipps-Allen, an educator and curriculum developer with more than 15 years of experience in education and training, including work with students from kindergarten through sixth grade in English Language Arts, literacy, library instruction, and math. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Literature from Fitchburg State University.
Production support (editing, formatting, technical implementation) may involve the AGA product team and trusted contractors. Final say on what publishes as learning content sits with the founder and curriculum owner.
2. How standards alignment is verified
The learning spine is the Master Curriculum Registry: 77 modules and 385 lessons across grades 3–6 in math, reading/ELA, science, and social studies. Module and skill IDs are mapped to Common Core (math and ELA) and related state / framework guidance used in product planning (including science and social studies frameworks referenced in our curriculum docs).
When we say a mission or worksheet is “standards-aligned,” we mean it is tied to a specific module and skill in that registry — not that a third-party certification body has audited every item. You can browse the public map on our curriculum and grade pages (3, 4, 5, 6).
3. How worksheets are fact-checked
Practice items (math operations, grammar, measurement) are checked against the module skill and against worked answers before publish. Content that names real people, events, or science topics — for example biography passages, DNA or body-systems science, history and civics topics such as civil rights figures or September 11 commemorative reading — is written from publicly available reference sources and reviewed for age-appropriate accuracy before it goes live.
We do not currently employ a standing external academic review board for every worksheet. External subject-matter review is something we are adding over time for high-sensitivity topics. Until then, corrections from teachers, parents, and specialists are welcomed and prioritized (see Corrections below).
4. Age-appropriateness review
Allen Girls Adventures is built for grades 3–6 (about ages 8–12). Stories may include adventure, conflict, and real-world seriousness, but we avoid gore, hopeless framing, and material that belongs in older grades. Child accounts have no open-ended AI chat, no ads, and no behavioral tracking — described further on our families and privacy pages.
5. AI-use policy
We may use AI tools to draft outlines, suggest practice item variants, check wording clarity, or speed formatting. We do not publish AI-generated curriculum or worksheets without human review of accuracy, age fit, and standards fit. S.P.A.R.K., the in-product helper, is bounded: he offers hints and scaffolding, not open chat, and he does not replace a child’s thinking or a guardian’s judgment.
AI is never used to invent fake credentials, fake studies, or fake reviewer approvals for this site.
6. Human review process
Before a learning page or worksheet ships, a human owner checks: (1) skill/module match, (2) answer key correctness, (3) reading level and tone for grades 3–6, (4) safety and representation concerns, and (5) links and metadata. Story and world pages that teach are also checked so they do not invent “locked” lore that contradicts approved canon documents.
7. Corrections procedure
Found an error in a worksheet, grade page, career fact, or story explanation? Email allengirlsadventures@gmail.com with the page URL, what looks wrong, and (if you have it) a source. You can also use our contact form.
We review correction reports in the order received, fix confirmed factual or answer-key errors as quickly as we can, and update the live page. For material mistakes we may note the change in the relevant page’s “last updated” line when that field exists.
8. Update schedule
Curriculum maps and high-traffic grade pages are reviewed when we ship major content updates (new modules, worksheet packs, or standards remaps). Worksheets are re-checked when their question set changes. This Editorial & Academic Standards page is reviewed at least twice a year, or sooner when our process changes.
